Guide to Downtown Dubai

Dubai is an exciting city next to none. Millions of visitors visit this smart city each year, making it one of the most popular vacation destinations filled with endless entertainment and iconic landmarks. There is no better place to be located than in Downtown to experience all the excitement that Dubai’s city life has to offer.

Welcome to Downtown Dubai

Right off the bat, Downtown Dubai is home to three of the city’s top attractions, all of which are conveniently located in close proximity to one another. We are of course referring to the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall, and the Dubai Fountain.

As soon as you step outside you’ll feel the energy of the city as the Downtown neighborhood is right in the heart of the city. Being based here also frees up your time to visit the surrounding areas at your own pace. This is a popular option for out-of-town guests because all major transportation routes converge Downtown.

Now that you know this neighborhood to be staying in, how about the hotel?

The ideal hotel will have all the amenities a modern-day traveller requires for a pleasant stay. The hotel you choose to stay at will have a significant impact on your experience in Dubai, from the comfort of your accommodation to the convenience of the onsite amenities.

That’s where Rove hotels comes in – and our Rove Downtown hotel in particular.

Our Rover rooms are all en suite and well-designed with a designer mattress to boot. Guests can take a relaxing rain shower in their private bathroom and stock the mini-fridge with refreshments. The building also features a 24-hour fitness centre, co-working spaces, an outdoor pool with fantastic views of Burj Khalifa, and a restaurant that serves meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Whether you’re staying in Downtown for the day, the week, or the month, our central Rove hotel located here offers the ideal accommodation for your upcoming vacation.

So… what can visitors to Dubai expect from the Downtown area, beyond its convenient location and cosmopolitan vibe? The correct response is “a lot.”

Attractions in the Heart of Dubai

The Dubai Mall is a great place to start in Downtown Dubai. You’ll probably want to travel to The Dubai Mall multiple times, whether or not you’re there specifically to shop. There are hundreds of shops to explore at one of the largest malls in the world, but that’s not all. The mall has a particular waterfall that pays homage to the country’s history, and you can download an app to take you through it (and even a buggy if you choose) to ensure that you don’t get overwhelmed in the process. From the Olympic-sized Dubai Ice Rink to the plush Reel Cinemas and enthralling Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo (with its 140 marine species!), the Dubai Mall has no shortage of entertainment to keep you entertained.

The world-famous dancing Dubai Fountain can be seen right outside, with shows running every 30 minutes. The Burj park is adjacent to the fountains and is well worth a visit. It’s a lovely spot for unwinding, and fairs are held frequently throughout the year, so you might even get to attend one while you’re there. There is also a bridge that will lead you to the famous Souk Al Bahar market is just around the corner.

After you’ve had your fill of awe-inspiring sights, you’ll definitely want to visit the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. You can get tickets to the observation decks, perfect for enjoying breathtaking views of the city.

Last but not least, the Dubai Opera is another landmark you shouldn’t miss during your trip in Downtown. It’s a gorgeous architectural marvel which regularly hosts productions of beloved operas and Broadway plays.

Getting to Know Downtown Dubai

After you’ve had your fill of the sights and sounds of this vibrant area, there’s still the rest of Dubai to discover. If you want to explore the city’s most famous attractions, be sure to include the following on your bucket list.

Observe Traditional Downtown Dubai

Next on your itinerary list should include exploring the backstreets of the city, where you can be enchanted by old-world Dubai. Make your way from the famous Dubai Creek to the souks trading gold, spices, perfumes, and textiles. We recommend taking a trip on an abra (traditional dhow boat) which transports people across the Dubai Creek to experience the cultural side of this glitzy city and learn about its humble beginnings as a pearl diving nation.

  • Visit the sand dunes

You’ll be happy to know that the desert is never far away and that there are numerous ways to enjoy the dunes. You can opt for an exciting 4X4 ride, a relaxing desert safari, or the classic camel ride, each of which is guaranteed to provide you with incredible memories you’ll never forget.

  • Head to the shore

The Persian Gulf is a must-see when you’re in Dubai. There are many ways to experience it, from lounging by the beach to going on a yacht excursion or hopping on a jetski. The tranquil, warm blue seas are a sight to behold and a true pleasure to experience.
