Guide to Jumeirah Mosque

Jumeirah Mosque Cultural Landmark in Dubai

Jumeirah Mosque is known all over the world. As a cultural landmark in this Emirati nation, it’s no wonder it’ll be high up on your bucket list when visiting Dubai. The Jumeirah neighbourhood is situated along the Gulf coastline, meaning visitors to our Rove La Mer Dubai beach hotel the perfect choice of accommodation. Here’s everything you need to know…

Islamic designs are featured on many of Dubai’s architectural marvels, including its mosques. Jumeirah Mosque is designed in the Fatimid architecture style, combining architectural elements of the neighbouring nations of Egypt, Syria, Iran, and Iraq. It is not to be confused with the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.

Rather than just visiting, you can book a tour of the Jumeirah Mosque to learn about the Emirati culture and religion. There is a tour offered as part of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Cultural Understanding’s “Open Doors, Open Minds,” program.

Here, you can learn about Islam and the local culture, from the traditions to the holidays, customs, and cuisines. Inside, you’ll be able to ask questions and take photos. Be sure to try the Arabian treats including coffee and dates. There are children’s programmes available too, and traditional attire to wear in case the women don’t have a scarf to cover their head and shoulders.

This is one of the only mosques where all are invited inside. Visitors are welcome from 10am to 8pm. There is a designated tourist entrain with tours available at 10am and 2pm everyday except Fridays.

There are many ways to reach Jumeirah including by taxi, metro, bus, or car.

The white stone facade, elegant minarets and beautiful landscaping of Jumeirah Mosque, located along the picturesque Jumeirah Beach Road make it a serene location.

Construction on the Jumeirah Mosque began in 1976 and was completed in 1979. It features a white stone facade with minarets in the front and picturesque surrounding landscapes. Shaded walkways lead to an outdoor ablution area and an indoor majlis (a traditional seating area in many Emirati homes). There are elegant arches and columns inside the main prayer hall, with stained glass windows and a tree carpet. The ceilings and blue and peach shades, with verses from the Quran inscribed upon them.

Fun fact: The Jumeirah Mosque is featured on the AED 500 note.
